Dr. Aiying Wang participated in APEC women in STEM 2017

APEC 2017 was hold at Honoi Vietnam on 9-21 May 2017. The deputy director of Key Laboratory of Marine Materials and Related Technologies, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Aiying Wang participated in APEC Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) workshop as one of Chinese representives on 13-16 May, and gave a keynote oral presentation titled "Career Path for Women in STEM - Strive for wonderfull life". About 80 people from nearly 21 cooperated economies attended the workshop, such as the United States, China, Canada, Russia, Australia and Vietnam etc.

On the topic about how to promote the women career development, Dr. Wang demonstrated the great impacts of Chinese female scientists and technicians on the development of creative works from two typical stories, and introduced the increasement of female researchers and studuents in Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and China. Self-experiences about the pursuit in education and research career were also shared by Dr. Wang. The characteristic policies and good practice experience from NIMTE, CAS and national sectors were also briefly introduced. After the speaking, Dr. Wang interacted passionately with attendants. 

The frameworks of Women in STEM includes Enabling Enviroment, Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship. It is hold by the US-ATAARI orgonization, first called in 2016. It is the second call in 2017 and the first time Chinese representives attened. This time the topics is "Building a Pipeline for Girls and Women-Coding the Way to Success".
